Clark Brockman, AIA, LEED® AP
Associate Principal

Clark brings over 25 years of architectural experience to SERA that spans across an array of project sizes and types, including complex renovations, schools, affordable housing, churches and aquatic centers. Technically oriented and an excellent communicator, he particularly enjoys assisting in public or project dialogue in the pursuit of sustainability. He is involved with most of SERA's LEED projects and all of the firm’s Living Building projects as an in-house coordinator. Clark works within (and outside of) SERA's office to promote sustainability, believing the Northwest must continue to provide leadership in this arena. In this capacity he speaks regularly at Natural Step workshops on workplace sustainability and is also a frequent lecturer on Green Building process and policy. Clark is the 2007 Oregon Betterbricks award winner in the Designer category.

Clark Brockman is Director of SERA Architect’s Sustainability Resource Team. He is the past chair of the Cascadia Region Green Building Council Board of Directors and serves on The Oregon Natural Step’s Advisory Board. He has served in a green building advisory capacity to Portland’s Office of Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Commission, City Commissioner Dan Saltzman, the Portland Development Commission, Multnomah County, Clackamas County, the Oregon Business Council, the Governor of Oregon, and Oregon Congressman David Wu’s office. He is also a frequent lecturer and panel participant on sustainable design, green building policy change, and the impact of the built environment on climate change. In March he and Dennis Wilde, a Principal at Gerding Edlen Development Company, co-presented multiple green building workshops in China through a US Department of Energy grant. Clark was the 2007 Oregon Betterbricks award winner in the “Designer” category and was a judge for the USGBC’s first Living Building Challenge competition at Greenbuild 2007. He was published in Who’s Green? 2008 and in Solar Today in November 2007.

He has a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado, and is a registered Architect in the states of Colorado and Washington.

Prior to working at SERA Clark and his wife Kacia took an 18 month sabbatical touring the western United States and Asia by bicycle. They also enjoy sea kayaking, backcountry skiing and practicing yoga together.
