We are seeking a talented professional for our Sustainable Resources Group (SuRG) Project Assistant position. The SuRG Project Assistant will provide assistance in all phases of the design process (from pre-concept through construction) and will assist with LEED certification for SERA projects.  The right candidate must have the ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks and should be passionate about sustainability.

Sustainable Resources Group - Project Assistant

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of graphics related to sustainability for presentations and interviews

  • Assist in the preparation of analysis / calculations (solar, daylighting, shading, water, etc) that provide background for design decisions related to climate responsive design

  • Assist the LEED Coordinator and other team members in preparation of all LEED documentation for projects to the USGBC

  • Encourage the adoption of green building practices by SERA’s clients through clear and compelling explanations of LEED and other green building criteria

  • Research products supporting LEED and other green building standards, compiling and maintaining information in a comprehensible format

  • Remain current on LEED CIR’s and on other fluctuating standards relating to LEED rating systems

  • Assist with technical analysis that supports proof of project’s LEED pathway concept (e.g. site planning, water usage, energy and daylighting simulation, materials selection, etc.)

  • Track incentives available through Federal, State and City agencies, maintaining up to date records and calculator tools which account for various programs types and costs

  • Serve in an advisory role to staff regarding sustainability and LEED

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or a related field is preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign or similar software

  • experience with sustainable modeling tools such as Ecotect

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office’s suite of programs

  • Strong graphic, design and spatial skills

  • Strong skills in communication (both oral and written)

  • LEED Accredited Professional

 

  • Additional skills where demonstrated familiarity considered a ‘plus’

  • REVIT (BIM) as a LEED documentation tool

  • The Earth Advantage and Energy Star certification systems

  • Cascadia’s Living Building Challenge and its developing standard

 

Salary to be commensurate with demonstrated, related experience
