Rose House Picture 1
When Eldon Haines and Linda Rose wanted to build a retirement home close to their children, an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) provided the solution. The clients who were committed to solar and green design enthusiastically collaborated with SERA architects to build an 800-square foot home that embraced sustainable design principles. As one of Oregon Department of Energy’s demonstration homes, The Rose House is designed to generate annually more electricity than it uses through solar photovoltaic panels (3.3KW Array). The Rose House was also the first home in Portland to receive a Platinum certification from Earth Advantage, acknowledging the home’s breadth of sustainable design measures from indoor air quality to resource re-use to dramatic energy efficiency.
